New statutory guidance on the information sharing duty
The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026 introduces a new statutory duty to share information for the purposes of safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
The duty will come into force on 30 September 2026, and statutory guidance was published on 10 September to help agencies implement the duty.
The LSCP has produced a factsheet which summarises the key points of this guidance, including what the duty entails and who it applies to.
